The Wedding of

Rusandi & Yolanda

June 1, 2013

Our side of the story:

It all started back in February 2011, in an office building located somewhere along Rasuna Said, Kuningan.

A sunny Thursday afternoon, it was a small hallway corridor, where their eyes first locked at each other, where their first words exchanged, where their blood raced in that moment, where their thoughts wander and without a single clue if it's going to start something or how it would ended or how it would probably just passed by. Not knowing it's where God put His plan on motion.

The Corridor

"...It's where God put His plan on motion..."

Shortly after we went on our first date, it was awkward as it was exciting. And after several months of courtship and roadblocks, we are officially a couple and finally begin dating.

As a couple we rarely got into fights, and the ones we got into were only trivial matters. We realized that this can both be good and bad indication, because conflict and the way we resolve it is very important in a relationship.

We are very blessed to be a part of JPCC, a prominent church in Jakarta, the teachings are practical, exemplary and humble. They guide us on how to build and maintain a healthy relationship and later on through various classes we learned on how to build a lasting marriage.

A year into dating, our feelings grew stronger and empowered us to take it into the next level of commitment. Mid August 2012, we got engaged on the very same spot we met, only this time tears, smiles and laughter were the things being shared.

And thus began the preparation for our special day...

The Story

how it all begins...

Sandi

Sandi's side of the story:

First time I noticed her, she used to walk past my cubicle carrying this big thick heavy binder and talk to the accountant right on the opposite of my table. We never really talked during that time, and after a couple of months she was no longer around.

Almost a whole year later, she came back to the office again, usually 2-3 times a week. My curiosity finally got the best of my shyness, and one day I approached her and asked her name. I was really nervous, I have never done this before but I had to get to know her before she's gone again. A week later I asked her phone number as she walked by the hallway again, and since she couldn't talk very long on the phone I resorted to instant messaging.

"...I have never done this before but I had to get to know her before she's gone again..."

A couple of weeks later I stumbled upon her in the elevator and asked her out for dinner, she accepted and we went on our first date. We went out a couple of times since then, and after resolving some issues at that time we finally begin dating.

I felt that we have a lot in common, the way we think, the way we resolve problems, the way we see our future, and we always try to bring the best of each other. Now, almost two years of dating, I am finally going to make her my only wife.

Yola
Yola's side of the story:

Back in my college days, i’ve always been wondered what would my wedding pictures look like. Who am I going to be spend the rest of my life with?

I’ve been praying to God asking for a man who can be my best friend, my lover, and my hero. A man, who helps to bring the best in me; who is smart, humble, and most important is faithful to God.  God finally answered that prayer in February 2011, the moment I met him for the first time.

Honestly, I was completely knocked off my feet by the way he chose to introduce himself, he run down the hallway just to greet me. It’s still fresh in my mind that he tell me that I walk very fast that he had trouble catching up to me. To this day, my heart beats faster every time I visualized that very moment, the moment I met my future husband.

"...my heart beats faster every time I visualized that very moment, the moment I met my future husband..."

Actually during the time, I was facing most difficult times in my life. I was really busy with my workloads and I broke out of a bad relationship.  I came up to the point where I had almost given up faith in relationship. The very first time he asked me out to dinner; I almost said no. I was so afraid that if I open my heart, it was only to be hurt again. But, when God opens a way, it will only be the best for you.

It never crossed my mind back then, but the decision to accept his dinner invitation was the best decision I have ever made, it guides me to discover my dearest one. Time goes by and I feel closer and closer to him. And here we go, counting days for our special day. I can’t wait to spend the rest of our lives together; to grow old with him.
